Hand-building with Slabs:
Incorporating Decoration in the
Making Stage

Workshop Description
9AM to 4PM Basic supplies and lunch are included.
This workshop will focus on the possibilities available when we liberate our hands and leave big expensive tools like slab rollers and extruders out of the process. Students will learn to illustrate personal imagery with textured slabs and use those slabs to construct functional and sculptural pots.


All experience levels will enjoy this class.

Dennis Meiners work has appeared in several books including The Artful Teapot by Garth Clark & Handbuilt Pottery by Kathy Triplett, as well as magazines Clay Times, Ceramics Monthly and American Craft. He has taught many workshops and taught at Portland Community College and Oregon College of Arts & Crafts. He received his BA from Washington State University in 1973 and has been a full time studio potter since that time.

HUMMINGBIRD is the adobe and strawbale home and studios he built with his wife, Leslie Lee .
